Director of Parks and Recreation Mike Wick provided an encouraging update on athletic field utilization at Deerpath Community Park at the City Council Meeting on Monday, April 21, 2025. With over 3,000 hours of athletic field use in 2024 and strong engagement from local user groups, the City is on track to meet its long-term goal of fully funding future turf replacement through steadily accumulating rental revenue over time. Pardon the pun, but it’s a home run!
Following the presentation and discussion at the meeting, the City Council unanimously approved a modest $5/hour increase for field rentals, keeping Lake Forest’s rates affordable and competitive. The original graduated pricing plan – starting below market to build demand – is working as intended. Just as importantly, it ensures ample time for open play and continued affordability for Lake Forest leagues and families.
