Red Class

----LisaMoulton1.jpg Mrs. Lisa Moulton, Director/Teacher, has been privileged to work professionally with young children in many diverse educational settings, the last nine years at KPA. She holds a Master of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from the Erikson Institute and a Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Iowa. Mrs. Moulton is also a fully credentialed American Montessori Society (AMS) director. She is an enthusiastic advocate of the Reggio Emilia, project-based philosophy and over the years has attended numerous training opportunities around the country. In addition Mrs. Moulton completed an amazing Reggio study group at the Loris Malaguzzi International Center in Reggio Emilio, Italy. Her experience working with children prioritizes their safety, social and emotional well-being, academic development, critical thinking skills and resilience. Planting seeds of compassion in young people, and creating awareness to the needs of others, is one of the many elements that makes Kinderhaven such a special place for children and families. Mrs. Moulton's own family consists of her husband of 33 years, and three adult children, a daughter and two sons - plus two big rescue dogs.


----LindseyDeRose1.jpg Mrs. Lindsey DeRose earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and a Masters in Education from National Louis as a Learning Behavior Specialist. Before coming to KPA, she taught in special education at a therapeutic school for several years. Mrs. DeRose lives in Lake Forest with her son, husband and chocolate lab. Her favorite thing to do outside of school is to watch her son play baseball. Her other passions include baking, running, and especially reading!



Mrs. Penny Strang has taught preschool for 16 years and she enjoys it very much. She loves working with this age group, and finds the children's curiosity and enthusiasm contagious! She is originally from Concord, MA and ventured to the Midwest to attend college. Mrs. Strang graduated from Lake Forest College with a BA in Psychology. She has been married to her college sweetheart for 29 years, and has lived in Lake Forest for 21 years with their two adult sons and beloved rescue dog. In her free time Mrs. Strang enjoys walking, running, photography, nature and travel.


Blue Class


Mrs. Monica Krzeminski or "Mrs. K" has enthusiastically been teaching at Kinderhaven for many years. She holds a BFA in theater from University of Illinois and a MAT in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. She also has several years of experience teaching in Montessori environments. While attending National Louis University, she taught Kindergarten in the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago. In this position, she was a finalist for the Kohl McCormick Teaching Award. Aside from her passion in education, she has a passion for her family, which includes, her husband, and three sons. Mrs. K embraces the Reggio Emilia approach, and she has attended many trainings with the Kinderhaven staff, including a spring 2017 intensive study trip to Reggio Emilia, Italy!




----Penny-Strang

Purple Class


Mrs. Brooke Rolek is excited to be a part of the Kinderhaven Community as a teacher in the Purple Class! She is a graduate of Lake Forest High School and then went on to DePauw University, where she studied English Literature and played field hockey. Mrs. Rolek then went back to school and obtained a Masters of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University. She has several years of previous teaching experience both at the preschool and elementary school levels. She resides in Lake Forest with her husband and their two children. Class Aides

Ms. Kasey Johnson, Purple, Blue, & Red Class Assistant Teacher, is a recent graduate from Baylor University! She studied Theatre Arts and Educational Psychology, where she found a passion for storytelling and sparking creativity in children. She has spent summers working in national parks across the US, operating a candy shop in Theodore Roosevelt National Park and driving visitors around Grand Teton National Park. Since then, she has spent her time harvesting and planting at a local farm and volunteering at a children's museum. She has developed a deep appreciation for nature and wants to help foster a loving and encouraging environment for children to thrive in the outdoors!


Ms. Cheyenne Hensley, Blue Class Assistant Teacher, is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. She recently moved to Libertyville with her cousin and has been enjoying the beauty and community of Chicagoland! She earned her Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2019, studying theatre and acting at Stephens College, a small traditionally all women's school in Missouri. Through her studies, she had the opportunity to work at a summer theatre in Iowa, which held an interactive children's theatre called Boji Bantam. She had the privilege of being a part of the production of the Ugly Duckling and seeing how young audiences/learners experience storytelling. Along with her passion for theatre and storytelling, she enjoys thrifting, playing the ukulele, hiking, reading, and dancing! She is ecstatic to be a part of this strong team of educators and learners.

Ms. Meredith Gregory, Red Class Assistant Teacher, is excited to join the Kinderhaven community and work with the Red Class team! She has worked at McCormick Day Camp, as a counselor-in-training through the Rec Center, and has also been a babysitter for local families. She is a Lake Forest Resident and also a current student at College of Lake County. In her free time, Ms. Gregory likes to play with her dog, Tanner and her two cats, Opal and Garnet. She also enjoys knitting and going for walks and bike rides when the weather is nice.

SUE PETERSEN - BLUE CLASS TEACHER

Mrs. Peterson has many years of teaching experience in a variety of early childhood environments and classrooms. She graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a double major in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Ed. She also holds a three to six-year-old Montessori Certificate from Seton Montessori in Clarendon Hills and additionally completed a 30 hour comprehensive K-2 Orton Gillingham Training from the Institute or Multi-Sensory Education. Mrs. Petersen has taught both in a play-based preschool as well as full-time in a Montessori preschool in Libertyville. In 2017 Mrs. Petersen was nominated for the Golden Apple Award. She has always had an interest in the Reggio Emilia approach and looks forward to working in this project-based early childhood environment. Mrs. Petersen spends her free time with her husband, three grown children and beautiful baby granddaughter. She loves reading, knitting and spending time in nature.
